Role Overview
At Boeing Sheffield, we are seeking a dedicated professional to manage and optimize our supply chain operations. You will play a crucial role in ensuring the timely and efficient delivery of flight-critical, complex machined hardware, contributing directly to Boeing's global mission.
Key Responsibilities:
- Material Requirements & Planning: Analyze complex material needs, verify Bill of Materials and production schedules, and integrate them into planning systems to support production objectives.
- Order Release & Control: Initiate, coordinate, and authorize the release of purchase and production orders by evaluating system requirements, resource availability, and risk. Ensure timely order execution and on-time delivery.
- Inventory Management & Optimization: Develop and control inventory plans, setting and optimizing inventory targets (safety stock, reorder points, days of inventory) across sites to balance service levels with carrying costs.
- Delinquency & Exception Management: Document and resolve order delinquencies, report schedule adherence issues, and recommend corrective and preventative actions to mitigate future disruptions.
- Audits & Compliance: Initiate and participate in inventory and process audits to ensure stock record integrity and compliance with internal and external requirements.
- Process Improvement & Best Practices: Implement and maintain Supply Chain Management (SCM) best practices, lead cross-functional initiatives, and introduce tools/techniques to improve performance.
- New Business Support: Assist in developing estimates and schedules for new business proposals and provide material readiness input for bids and ramp-up planning.
- Stakeholder Coordination: Coordinate with operations, quality assurance, quality control, warehousing, purchasing, engineering, suppliers, and customers to resolve supply issues and align priorities.
- Reporting & Metrics: Generate and maintain SCM performance metrics (on-time delivery, inventory turns, forecast accuracy, expedited shipments), using data to drive decisions and continuous improvement.
- Supply Chain Team Support: Assist with end-of-month activities and provide necessary cover support within the team.
Basic Qualifications:
- Experience authorizing and managing order releases and ensuring on-time delivery.
- Proven ability to develop and control inventory plans and optimize inventory levels.
- Strong analytical skills and proficiency with data analysis tools (advanced Excel; experience with ERP/MRP systems).
- Effective written and verbal communication skills; ability to influence across functions and suppliers.
- Ability to work under general direction with sound judgment on material and scheduling decisions.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Typically 6–8 years’ relevant supply chain, planning or materials management experience with increasing responsibility.
- Experience with global supply chain coordination and multi-site inventory planning.
- Experience initiating and conducting inventory/process audits.
- Track record of implementing SCM process improvements and establishing best practices.
- Knowledge of aerospace standards (e.g., AS9100) and compliance requirements.
- Relevant professional certifications (e.g., APICS CPIM/CSCP, ISM CPSM).
- Proficient user of SAP, Apriso or other advanced ERP/MRP planning tools.
- Formal qualification in Supply Chain, Logistics, Business, Engineering or a related discipline is advantageous, but equivalent practical experience or professional certification will be considered.

- This position is for a locally hired role in the UK. Candidates must have current legal authorization to work immediately in the United Kingdom. Boeing will not provide immigration and labor sponsorship.
