About the Role
An exciting internship opportunity is available at Boeing’s UK High-Lift Aerodynamics Collaboration Centre (HiLACC), located at the 5 Metre wind tunnel in Farnborough, UK. This 3-month summer internship is designed for students or recent graduates to support Boeing Commercial Airplanes (BCA) Flight Sciences work.
What You'll Do
The Aerodynamics Engineering Intern will actively contribute to aerodynamics research, focusing on areas such as:
- Aerodynamic research and analysis.
- Development and utilization of analytical predictive capabilities, including Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD).
- Contribution to the development of robust analysis processes.
Position Responsibilities
- Understand the range of predictive capabilities used in aerodynamic design.
- Assist in research and development projects, potentially including:
- Developing robust tools for CFD workflows.
- High-lift characteristics.
- Flow physics.
- Aircraft wake analysis.
- Wind tunnel data interpretation.
- Learn and apply predictive capabilities like CFD to understand flow phenomena in aircraft design and testing.
- Shadow and support the development of geometry and analysis tools aligned with model-based engineering.
- Actively participate in group meetings and technical discussions.
- Understand the importance of wind tunnel testing and support ongoing tests and data analysis.
Qualifications
Basic Qualifications:
- Right to work in the UK.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Currently studying or recently graduated (within the last year) from a relevant degree course (e.g., Engineering, Physics, Mathematics).
- A passion for aerodynamics and sustainability.
- Strong problem-solving aptitude and collaboration skills.
- High attention to detail and focus on quality.
- Coding aptitude (Python experience is desirable but not essential).
- Confident presentation skills and willingness to present at meetings.
- Effective communication skills.
Additional Information
- This is a primarily on-site role at the HiLACC facility.
- Boeing will not sponsor applicants for employment visa status.
- This position does not offer relocation assistance; candidates must live in the immediate area or relocate at their own expense.
