Aircraft Technician - Aftermarket MRO
Boeing, through its Short Brothers division, is expanding its Maintenance, Repair & Overhaul (MRO) team and is looking for skilled Technicians. Purpose of the Job:
To undertake maintenance and repair activities on aircraft structures and components, working to operational logs, maintenance manuals, and process specifications. You will liaise with Lead Technicians and Engineering to ensure efficient and effective repair solutions and support the schedule of assigned work to meet turnaround-time targets.
Key Responsibilities:
- Work to operational logs, component maintenance manuals, component repair schemes, and process specifications to carry out maintenance and repairs.
- Liaise with Lead Technicians and Engineering to ensure the most efficient and effective repair solutions.
- Support the schedule of assigned work to ensure turn-around-time is achieved.
- Be accountable for the completion of assigned work within the targeted time allocation on the Final Assembly Tracking System.
- Be accountable for the quality and verification of task completion.
- Carry out activities related to fabrication processes as required, such as welding, panel beating, non-destructive testing, and hot-bond repair.
- Support and provide on-the-job training for fellow Technicians to meet business requirements.
- Contribute to cost-reduction, schedule, and quality improvement initiatives related to the repair process and assist others as needed to meet scheduled requirements.
- Effectively participate in performance optimisation processes for the repairs business.
- Ensure accuracy of individual labour-hour bookings on the Final Assembly Tracking System.
- Support repair-shop activities during the introduction of new processes, technologies, and work practices.
- Support the operation in the design and manufacture of aids to production as required.
- Maintain general Health & Safety / housekeeping for your local workstation.
- Be prepared to travel at short notice and work shifts and overtime as required.
Candidate Requirements:
- Must possess an Apprenticeship in a relevant Mechanical discipline.
- A minimum of two years’ post-apprenticeship experience within an Aerospace environment is essential.
- Strong communication and planning skills.
- Ability to work using continuous improvement principles, including problem identification and resolution, teamwork, and negotiation.
- Successful candidates must be prepared to complete a 12-week development programme focusing on cost, quality, and schedule.
Desirable Experience:
- Experience working as an Aircraft Technician in an Aftermarket Maintenance, Repair & Overhaul environment.
