About the Role:
The Senior Electronics Engineer will deliver essential technical expertise in the electronic facets of Underwater Systems hardware, encompassing design, repair, obsolescence, and sustainment. This role is crucial for supporting legacy products by integrating new technologies. You will leverage your broad engineering knowledge and experience, adhering to established company methodologies, techniques, and governance within the electronics domain.
Core Duties:
- Support existing electronic designs and technology insertion programmes, including fault diagnosis, rectification, and obsolescence management.
- Design and develop electronic assemblies from initial requirements and specifications through detailed design, testing, integration, and release into service.
- Develop complex component-level analogue, mixed-signal, and power electronic designs, including component selection, schematic capture, simulation, and support for PCB layout.
- Perform and support design verification and testing, including EMC/EMI, E3, applicable product regulatory requirements, and data communication interfaces and protocols.
- Design for manufacture and production, including specifying components and bespoke items, and managing parts information within SAP.
- Collaborate with related disciplines such as Mechanical Engineering, ILS, Safety, and Production to support system integration and electro-mechanical interfaces.
- Apply the engineering lifecycle and governance, contributing to technical progress, peer reviews, and design reviews.
- Provide technical guidance to colleagues through design activities, problem-solving, and technical reviews.
Essential Skills and Experience:
- HND or Degree in Electronic Engineering, or equivalent practical experience.
- Experience generating component-level electronic designs using electronic CAD tools, including Cadence.
- Experience with complex analogue and mixed-signal design, including low-noise and high-reliability techniques.
- Experience in power electronics, including high-power and high-voltage design techniques.
Desirable Experience:
- Sonar electronics, RF, signal processing, or FPGA/CPLD design.
The Team and Working Environment:
As a Senior Electronics Engineer, you will undertake design and electrical integration for legacy products and technology insertion. You will also be responsible for the design elements and obsolescence of the electrical aspects of the Underwater System and associated equipment.
