Job Description: Process Engineer

As a Process Engineer, your primary responsibility will be to develop and optimise manufacturing processes. You will ensure solutions are robust, cost-effective, and meet customer expectations, all while adhering to engineering plans and budgets. This role involves applying industry-standard controls such as Lean principles, Process Control Plans, and PFMEA to maintain process stability and support automated systems.

Key duties include specifying, installing, and qualifying equipment in collaboration with suppliers, ensuring full compliance with safety and regulatory standards. You will coordinate development activities, manage process data within PLM systems, and support projects through reviews, capability studies, and Safe Systems of Work. Effective communication of process performance and KPIs to stakeholders is essential.

Core Duties:

• Develop and optimise manufacturing processes that are robust, cost-effective, timely, and customer-focused.
• Ensure process compliance through Lean principles, control plans, PFMEAs, automation, and visual management.
• Specify, qualify, and install new equipment, ensuring safety, regulatory compliance, and supplier coordination.
• Lead process development activities, generating data to support manufacturing technologies, materials, and equipment.
• Manage process documentation, capability studies, KPIs, and safe working practices through PLM systems.

Essential Skills:

• Minimum HNC/HND in Mechanical, Electrical, Manufacturing, Chemical Engineering, or an equivalent qualification.
• A technical and manufacturing background, demonstrating initiative and the ability to work effectively under pressure.
• Ability to prioritise a constantly varying workload while maintaining high quality standards and meeting deadlines.
• Experience in materials processing in hazardous environments.

The Warhead Development Team:

You will be integrated within the Warhead Development team, supporting programme delivery by ensuring engineering development activities are effectively planned, estimated, and risk-managed. This role is based primarily at BAE Systems Land UK, Glascoed, working closely with the Portfolio Manager and Engineering Manager. Travel to customer, manufacturing, testing, and evaluation sites will be required.
