Principal Systems Testing and Integration Engineer
Join BAE Systems as a Principal Systems Testing and Integration Engineer, where you will be integral to the integration of complex Platform Management System software and control systems. This role offers the opportunity to work across the full system lifecycle on cutting-edge submarine programmes, providing technical leadership and ensuring the safe, high-quality delivery of critical engineering solutions. You will be required to attend the Barrow-in-Furness site on a full-time basis.
Core Duties:
- Be responsible for the assigned functional test design of the Platform Management System.
- Manage test execution and reporting activities, including the recording of accurate records as per policy, procedure, and legislation.
- Be responsible for the capture, communication, and demonstration of observations and fault investigation findings to relevant stakeholders.
- Fulfill defined development needs, identify self-development opportunities, and undertake mandatory training.
- Provide support with peer reviews of test input and output documentation to ensure consistency and quality.
- Represent the Company at supplier premises during demonstrations, UATs, and FATs events.
- Attend relevant schedule, risk reviews, and technical meetings, providing SQEP knowledge to the PMS delivery teams.
- Liaise closely with internal and external stakeholders to resolve issues that risk the test plan and associated strategies.
Essential Skills:
- Possess either an HNC/HND/Degree in a relevant engineering discipline or hold an equivalent qualification or experience.
- Experience in providing leadership and guidance to a team is required.
- Currently be a Chartered Engineer (CEng) status or be actively working towards this goal.
- Software test experience including automation of unit, module / component integration and system level testing or commissioning of control systems with an HMI interface in an industry such as Marine, Nuclear, Oil and Gas, Automotive or similar is required.
- Gained knowledge or experience with electrical control systems that utilise Programmable Logic Controllers.
The PMS Test and Integration Team:
By joining this team, you will develop and design software that integrates into the Platform for both Marine Systems and Control System functions. This will require testing in a facility, and necessary evidence produced to support safe delivery for test, commissioning, and in-service use. This role offers the opportunity to be involved in the full Validation and Verification lifecycle with exposure to multiple test environments and events. This role could lead to future opportunities within the team or the wider BAE Systems Business. Relocation support packages are offered for Submarines roles, subject to eligibility.
