Mobile Repair Technician - Ruislip, West London

As a Mobile Repair Technician at our Ruislip site, you'll be instrumental in supporting the London Fire Brigade by ensuring their extensive fleet of over 460 vehicles and specialist equipment is always operational and ready to respond. This role is crucial for maintaining public safety across Greater London.
Day-to-day Responsibilities:
- Diagnosing faults and testing vehicles using specialist equipment.
- Maintaining your company vehicle, ensuring its roadworthiness and performing necessary servicing.
- Accurately completing all job documentation and parts requisitions.
- Identifying and reporting recharge cost instances with supporting evidence.
- Working across operational and training sites, performing manual tasks such as lifting, bending, and tool use.
This role involves significant manual work and requires passing a targeted medical questionnaire and/or medical examination.
The position is based at our Ruislip site. The working hours are Monday to Friday, totaling 40 hours per week. Regular travel across internal and customer sites is expected.
Essential Experience:
- Proven experience as a qualified motor vehicle technician.
- Full UK driving licence (Category B is essential; Category C is desirable).
- Strong diagnostic skills and a methodical approach to fault resolution.
- High attention to quality and safety standards.
- Understanding of workshop health and safety practices.
Qualifications:
- City & Guilds Levels 1 and 2 in Motor Vehicle Studies, or
- NVQ Levels 2 and 3 in Vehicle Maintenance and Repair (or equivalent qualification).
Security Clearance:
The successful candidate must be able to achieve and maintain Standard (BPSS) security clearance for this role. Please note that many positions within Babcock are subject to national security clearance and Trade Control restrictions, which may be influenced by your nationality and residency status.
