Mechanical Engineer

About the Role

As a Mechanical Engineer at BAE Systems, you will leverage your knowledge and understanding of engineering theories, concepts, principles, and approaches. You will apply theoretical engineering knowledge, experience, and skills to develop products and services, specifications, designs, and developments, effectively resolving technical and performance issues. This role also involves designing and developing solutions for a range of engineering situations and challenges.

Core Duties

• Apply company product knowledge, services, approaches, techniques, and governance under technical supervision to resolve common engineering problems on standard products and services.
• Undertake functional design and/or provide advice and qualification for your scope of responsibility, providing evidence for acceptance, fitness for purpose, regulatory & legislative requirements, and safety.
• Liaise with internal and external stakeholders to ensure their requirements are adequately supported and incorporated where appropriate.
• Provide support for assurance that designs are robust and provide supporting documentation for the safety case.
• Apply theoretical mechanical engineering knowledge, experience, and skills to develop products, services, specifications, designs, and developments.
• Work as an integral part of a multidisciplinary team and assess your own designs from a manufacturing perspective.

Essential Skills and Experience

• HNC or above in Mechanical Engineering.
• Experience using Siemens NX and Teamcentre.
• Experience using 2D CAD packages such as AutoCAD.
• Capability to generate customer-facing documents like reports and technical memorandums.
• Specific knowledge of Systems on Boats.
