Rheinmetall Weapon Munitions UK Limited (RWM UK) is establishing one of Europe's most modern production facilities in Telford, the "UK Gun Hall" project. RWM UK, a subsidiary of the Rheinmetall Group, is a centre of excellence for the production and maintenance of large calibre weapon systems in the United Kingdom.

Position Overview

The Maintenance Technician will be responsible for the upkeep of machines and equipment used in the production of large-calibre weapon systems. Manufacturing involves large CNC machines such as lathes, deep-hole drilling machines, honing machines, autofrettage machines, and milling machines, operating on a 3-shift basis. The maintenance team focuses on mechanics, electronics, hydraulics, and machining, with intensive on-the-job training provided at the Telford facility.

What You Will Do

  • Carry out routine and emergency repairs on machines and associated equipment.
  • Implement new installations, conversions, and adaptations of hardware and software.
  • Ensure the operational readiness of work equipment and workplaces.
  • Conduct inspections, maintenance, and repairs of operating equipment.
  • Plan and implement preventive maintenance schedules.
  • Maintain detailed logs and reports of all maintenance activities.
  • Provide input for the continuous improvement of related processes and tools to enhance overall performance.
  • Comply with health and safety regulations during repair and maintenance tasks.
  • Support and collaborate closely with production, production planning, the tool department, and external contractors to resolve issues with machines and equipment.
  • Diagnose issues and develop appropriate solutions.
  • Follow written and verbal instructions and communicate effectively with managers and team members.

What Qualifications You Should Have

  • Completed vocational training as an industrial mechanic, mechatronic technician, or in a comparable field.
  • Proficiency in identifying and resolving electrical and mechanical problems quickly and safely.
  • Ability to read and understand specifications, technical drawings, work instructions, and test procedures.
  • Professional experience in maintenance within an industrial company, specifically with CNC machining.
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision, as well as part of a team.
  • Demonstrate a motivated and disciplined work ethic, technical aptitude, a continuous improvement mindset, and attention to detail.
  • Enthusiasm for setting up a new production facility for large calibre weapons systems in the UK.
  • Willingness to work a 3-shift pattern and be on call, including weekends.
