Bid Manager - Rheinmetall Electronics UK Ltd.

Rheinmetall Electronics UK Ltd. is looking for a motivated and detail-oriented Sales Bid Manager to join their team in Newport, Isle of Wight. This is a permanent, full-time position focused on coordinating and supporting the creation of competitive, compliant, and compelling sales bids for sophisticated defence electronics systems and solutions.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Support the Business Development team with accurate and timely information impacting Capture Plans and customer relationships.
  • Lead Bid Planning, identifying the appropriate governance route, bid team, and milestones in conjunction with Sales.
  • Coordinate Proposal Development by scheduling inputs from various departments including Sales, Technical, Engineering, Commercial, Finance, Legal, and Delivery, ensuring clarity and accuracy.
  • Manage Bid Compliance and Risk, ensuring adherence to procurement rules and supporting the identification and mitigation of bid and delivery risks.
  • Oversee bid submissions through to order receipt and acceptance.
  • Provide Framework Bidding Support, managing cross-departmental inputs for compliant responses to competitive entry frameworks.
  • Maintain accurate Sales SAP B2 data reflecting proposal status.
  • Conduct win/loss analysis and customer debrief reviews to capture lessons learned and enhance future bid performance.
  • Manage bid budgets and monitor resource utilization for efficient investment.
  • Contribute to process improvements, departmental goals, and identifying efficiencies through duplication or re-use.
  • Collaborate with business development and sales teams to define bid-win strategies, value propositions, and differentiators.

Required Qualifications and Skills:

  • Proven experience in MoD procurement, competitive tendering, and framework submissions.
  • Experience in Engineering Services sales (electronic, mechanical, software, system of systems, ILS) and Product sales (electro-mechanical goods, support).
  • Demonstrated bid management experience with the ability to handle multiple concurrent bids under tight deadlines.
  • Proficiency in ERP systems, ideally SAP B2, MS Project, and Excel.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills for building relationships with internal and external stakeholders, senior management, and customers.
  • Effective communication skills across all business levels and with external consortia.
  • A working understanding of best practice bid processes and tools (e.g., bid planning, Black Hat, Red Team, Price to Win).
  • Strong cross-functional communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills, coupled with commercial judgment and leadership.
  • The ability to translate engineering language into customer value and employ Diplomatic Assertiveness.
  • Skills in scheduling, prioritization, process ownership, and attention to detail.
  • Desirable: APM/Prince qualifications and Shipley process qualifications.
