About the Role
Rheinmetall Weapon Munitions UK Ltd is establishing a new, state-of-the-art production facility in Telford, the "UK Gun Hall" project. As a CNC Setter/Operator (Turning), you will be an integral part of this exciting new manufacturing company, contributing to the production and maintenance of large calibre weapon systems.
This is a permanent, full-time position involving shift work in a new, clean, temperature-controlled, and modern working environment. You will be working with advanced CNC technology and high-precision engineering, benefiting from excellent job security and real opportunities for development and progression.
What You Will Be Doing
- Preparation, set-up, and operation of large CNC machines, including CNC turning machines, deep-drilling machines, honing, and rifling machines, within a 3-shift operation.
- Machining of high-quality components for large calibre weapons systems, up to 10 meters in length, adhering to very tight tolerances.
- Following SAP production orders and production instructions.
- Checking and measuring finished components against technical specifications and/or test plans, including regular worker self-checks at each production step.
- Reporting production metrics through the factory data collection system.
- Selecting the correct tools for tasks according to Standard Work Instructions (SWI).
- Providing input for the continuous improvement of related processes, work steps, and tools to enhance overall performance.
- Reporting to and supporting maintenance teams in fixing equipment issues.
What Qualifications You Should Have
- Experience as a CNC Operator with knowledge of CNC machines, specifically turning technology.
- Ability to read and understand specifications, technical drawings, work instructions, and test procedures.
- Competence in using jigs, fixtures, hand tools, and equipment.
- Proficiency in using measuring equipment for worker self-checks.
- Understanding and application of quality control within the production line.
- A motivated and disciplined approach with an excellent work ethic, technical aptitude, a continuous improvement mindset, and demonstrable attention to detail.
