Thermo-Mechanical Engineer - Flight Units Assemblies

Airbus CRISA (Airbus Defense & Space) is seeking a highly motivated Thermo-Mechanical Engineer for Flight Units Assemblies to join our dynamic Technical Team in Tres Cantos (Madrid area). This role offers the opportunity to contribute to various exciting space business areas, including Launchers, Earth Exploration (Copernicus), Space Exploration (Artemis), and Commercial Telecommunications Satellites.

Role and Responsibilities:

As a Thermo-Mechanical Engineer, you will be an integral part of the Thermo-Mechanical Design team, reporting to the relevant Team Leader and functionally to the Project Manager. Your primary mission will be to develop and design electronic units for flight equipment, ensuring delivery in line with project schedule, cost, and quality requirements.

Key Tasks Include:

  • Support the Technical Manager or Project Physical Design Responsible in analyzing project requirements.
  • Perform mechanical and thermal architecture analysis and design at module and unit level to ensure design robustness across complete mission scenarios (considering mechanical loads, temperature ranges, radiation shielding, etc.).
  • Document designs and analysis comprehensively.
  • Assist in key project reviews such as Requirement Review, Preliminary and Architecture Review, and Critical Design Review.
  • Support the Test Team during the acceptance of flight equipment, closely monitoring any changes, evolutions, or discrepancies during the characterization phase.
  • Aid in the resolution of Non-Conformance Reports (NCRs) identified during qualification or acceptance test campaigns.

Required Skills and Experience:

  • Proven experience in Thermodynamics and heat transfer analysis.
  • Demonstrated experience in Mechanical analysis, including static and dynamic analysis, sinusoidal or random vibration analysis, and shock transient analysis (Shock Response Spectrum).
  • Proficiency in Finite Element Analysis (FEA) tools: Hypermesh, Femap, Nastran NX.

Recommended Skills:

  • Minimum of five years of expertise in Thermodynamics and Mechanical design.
  • Strong analytical thinking and problem-solving abilities.
  • Digital mindset, including automation of tasks, scripting (Python, TCL, Bash, C/C++), and experience with digital design tools and simulators.
  • Familiarity with space environment constraints.
  • Experience with Agile Methodologies.
  • Knowledge of Fast prototyping HW techniques.
  • A willingness to learn and share knowledge with others.

Education and Background:

  • Engineering Master's degree.
  • Language proficiency: English C1 and Spanish.
