Technical Author - Defence Aviation

About the Role
As a Technical Author, you will be responsible for producing high-quality publications essential for the installation, modification, operation, maintenance, repair, and removal of equipment. You will provide crucial support documentation to internal and external customers, adhering to stringent procedural and regulatory standards.
Key Responsibilities:
- Deliver support documentation in line with Technical Publications procedures, MAA publications (MAM-P, MAM-D), and S1000D/ATA iSpec 2200.
- Ensure all work meets customer specifications, airworthiness requirements, and publication standards for both Military and Civil Aircraft.
- Manage and prioritise your workload effectively to meet customer deadlines.
- Assess and ensure compliance with MAA MAM-P & MAM-D and associated Regulatory Articles.
- Assess and ensure compliance with Civil Aviation standards (S1000D or ATA iSpec 2200).
Essential Experience:
- Qualified aircraft engineer, mechanical engineer, or equivalent practical experience.
- General knowledge of aircraft equipment, systems, and documentation.
- Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Word and Adobe FrameMaker.
- Competence in S1000D authoring tools and CSDB operations.
- Competence in using graphics packages (e.g., CorelDraw) for image manipulation.
Essential Qualifications:
- C&G or ONC/HNC in a relevant technical subject, or equivalent experience.
- City and Guilds or equivalent qualification in Technical Authoring.
About the Location:
This role is based at our Boscombe Down site, a key operational hub for aviation and aerospace systems testing and evaluation. You'll be part of a team contributing to the UK's aviation defence capabilities.
Working Hours & Arrangements:
This is a full-time role of 37 hours per week. A minimum average site attendance of three days per week is required.
