About the Role
Wing Systems Installations Stress at Airbus is offering an exciting opportunity for skilled and motivated undergraduate engineers to join their Filton-based team. You will support the vast Airbus fleet and contribute to the development of next-generation aerospace products. This role involves working on Systems Installation Stress across the entire Airbus commercial product range, military aircraft, and Research & Technology projects, specifically on Wing Systems including Fuel, Hydraulics, Pneumatics/Anti-Ice, Electrics, and Mechanical systems (high-lift and flight controls). You will engage with a variety of multi-National customers, stakeholders, and suppliers throughout the product lifecycle.
What You Will Be Doing:
- Delivering technical outputs and coordinating tasks within the greater Wing Engineering team.
- Contributing to 'End to End' lifecycle stress support from conceptual design, through modification processes, to Final Design and support for manufacturing sites.
- Providing reactive support to Customer Services (for issues like Aircraft-on-Ground, Repairs, In-Service issues) and Production.
- Executing stress analyses of Systems Installations using Airbus's established methods, processes, and tools.
- Optimizing designs in terms of weight, cost, performance, and production/assembly requirements while ensuring the highest safety standards of the product.
- Delivering essential stress outputs, including Stress Dossiers, Airworthiness outputs, Concession justifications, Design Review support, Trade Studies, concept investigations, and Test Support.
- Recommending improvements to product design or methods of assembly to enhance performance or reduce costs.
- Directing or influencing the work of designers, technicians, and other engineers on projects.
Requirements
This placement is exclusively for Undergraduates. It is mandatory for candidates to be an undergraduate for the entire duration of the placement. Please inform us of your graduation date in your application.

Successful candidates will demonstrate:
- Currently working towards a Bachelor's degree in Aerospace/Aeronautical/Mechanical Engineering or a strongly related engineering field.
- Good communication skills (both verbal and written) and mental agility to drive the delivery of customer value and quality within a multi-cultural team.
- A willingness to learn basic Systems Installation Engineering, problem-solving, and new toolsets (e.g., Google Workspace, Hyperworks FEM, ISAMI analysis tools).
- Discipline to deliver tasks while adhering to time, cost, and quality parameters.
- A strong foundation in analysis topics such as Strength of Structures and Materials, Statics, Dynamics, and Pressure Vessels.
Security Clearance:
You will be subject to a BPSS (Baseline Personnel Security Standard) check. Depending on the role, you may also need to obtain UK SC-level Security Clearance or Export Control.

This is an Internship role with Airbus Operations Limited.
The role is located in Filton, Bristol, with a duration of 12.5 months.
Flexible working hours and hybrid working options are available, depending on the role. Enjoy half-day Fridays and 25 days of holiday plus bank holidays.
