About the Programme
Supportability Engineering is crucial for keeping complex and critical assets safe, reliable, and ready for any challenge. This graduate programme offers a comprehensive two-year journey, providing hands-on experience across the entire product lifecycle, from initial design through ongoing maintenance to responsible disposal.
What You'll Do
You will build a strong foundation in key areas of Supportability Engineering. This includes developing and managing technical documentation, mastering material management, and delivering Logistics Support Analysis. You'll also contribute to maintenance planning, develop preventive maintenance tasks, and utilise data and supportability metrics to drive smarter, more efficient system performance. Working at the intersection of engineering and logistics, you'll apply your skills to systems that directly impact the performance and availability of some of the UK’s most critical defence platforms.
Programme Structure
Over two years, you will experience the breadth of our work through a series of rotational placements across our Supportability Engineering teams. These placements, typically lasting four to six months each, are designed to provide exposure to different aspects of the discipline. The primary location for these placements is the Babcock Technology Centre in Bristol, with potential opportunities at other sites like Devonport Royal Dockyard in Plymouth.
Development and Support
From day one, you will receive structured support, personalised training, and dedicated mentorship. You’ll join our Graduate Development Programme, which includes expert-led masterclasses on essential professional skills. We offer full guidance and cover all associated fees to support your journey towards Chartered or Incorporated Engineer status.
Career Progression
Upon successful completion of the programme, you will transition into a permanent role within our Engineering Function. Your development continues with ongoing support to become a professionally registered Senior Engineer. What We're Looking For
Applicants should have achieved, or be on track to achieve, a BEng or MEng in any Engineering discipline. For this programme, candidates must be able to achieve and maintain Baseline Personnel Security Standard (BPSS), Security Check (SC), and Naval Nuclear Propulsion Information (NNPI) clearance. Due to national security legislation, this post may only be occupied by a sole UK national.
Location
This programme is based at the Babcock Technology Centre in Bristol, supporting the UK Royal Navy's submarine fleet. Agile working is supported, with an expectation of multiple on-site working days per week. Flexibility and openness to relocation throughout the programme are encouraged.
