Software/ Hardware Integration Engineer - Submarines
An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Software/Hardware Integration Engineer to join the Dreadnought team based in Glasgow. Working as part of this high-profile engineering programme, you will play a key role in the integration, verification and validation of complex systems, bringing together software, FPGA and hardware components.
As a Software/Hardware Integration Engineer, you will be responsible for validating complex sub-systems and ensuring the timely delivery and quality of the artefacts associated with system integration, verification and validation. You will work closely with a range of engineering teams to support the successful delivery of robust and effective solutions.
What you will be doing:
- Develop test documentation, including test plans, procedures, reports and automated test scripts.
- Develop test equipment solutions and conduct Line Replaceable Unit (LRU) level testing across a range of functionality and environmental tests.
- Develop automated testing procedures for FPGA designs and support detailed integration testing against DOORS requirements.
- Conduct failure investigations and root cause analysis, applying structured problem-solving techniques.
- Ensure adherence to change control, configuration management and established development processes, demonstrating solution correctness and traceability to design requirements.
- Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives focused on reducing cost and timescales while improving quality.
- Support process and technical audits, product design reviews and verification activities.
- Liaise closely with software, systems, hardware, programmable hardware (FPGA) and safety teams to deliver integrated solutions.
Who we’re looking for:
- Qualified to degree level, In Software or Electronics Engineering, or related discipline.
- Experience with field-programmable gate arrays (FPGA).
- Experienced in integrating complex electronic products, fault finding and diagnosis.
- Experienced in one of digital electronics design and verification, programmable logic device design and verification, software design and verification or real-time systems, and awareness of the others.
- Self-motivated and enthusiastic to become familiar with new techniques and tools.
- Awareness of safety-critical development constraints (e.g. IEC62566).
- Experienced in timing analysis.
Clearance and Eligibility:
To work for the Rolls-Royce Submarines, an individual has to hold a Security Check clearance. Rolls-Royce will support the application for Security Clearance if you do not currently already have this in place.
