SHE Advisor

The Role
In this role, you will conduct independent oversight and assurance activities to identify compliance and improvement opportunities across operational areas. This is an excellent opportunity to leverage your health and safety expertise within a dynamic defence and engineering sector. You will collaborate with a wide range of stakeholders to drive positive safety outcomes, directly supporting the management of health and safety risks and safeguarding people, operations, and critical programmes.
Key Responsibilities:
- Conduct health and safety audits across a variety of business operations and supplier environments.
- Identify compliance and non-compliance issues, providing clear feedback and recommendations for improvement.
- Produce audit reports and management information to support decision-making and performance monitoring.
- Support the deployment and continual improvement of health, safety, and environmental management systems.
- Engage with managers, employees, suppliers, partners, and regulatory bodies to promote safe and compliant working practices.
About You:
We are looking for candidates with demonstrable experience in conducting health and safety audits within complex operational environments. You should possess a strong understanding of health and safety legislation, standards, and contractual requirements. Experience in identifying non-compliance, producing clear audit reports, and building effective working relationships with diverse stakeholders is essential. Experience engaging with external authorities such as the Health and Safety Executive, fire service, and local regulators is also required. A NEBOSH Construction Certificate is a required qualification.
Security Clearance:
The successful candidate must be a sole UK National and able to achieve and maintain Security Check (SC) security clearance for this role. Eligibility for this role may be affected by your place of birth, nationality, current or former citizenship, and any residency you hold or have held.

This is a full-time, permanent role working 35 hours per week, based on-site at Devonport Royal Dockyard in Plymouth.
