At Cavendish Nuclear, we are seeking a Senior Safety Case Consultant to join our team and play a crucial part in creating a safe and secure world. This is an opportunity to take on a role that's out of the ordinary, managing the delivery of engineering and technical activities through the application of process, domain knowledge, and experience.
The Role
As a Senior Safety Case Consultant, you will be responsible for a variety of key tasks including:
- Participating in and facilitating HAZID and HAZOP studies and developing Hazard Management Strategies.
- Authoring and verifying radiological safety assessments, including dose calculations, risk assessments, and ALARP justifications.
- Contributing to the preparation of Safety Case documentation, such as Safety Reports (PSRs, PCSRs, and their equivalents).
- Managing the delivery of assigned work, maintaining oversight of progress against cost and programme, and proactively identifying and escalating project risks.
- Supporting and mentoring junior team members in the development of safety case deliverables, fostering technical growth and consistency.
- Maintaining visibility of technical and safety case strategies across projects, sharing key arguments and promoting best practice throughout the team.
This is a full-time, permanent role (37 hours per week) offering hybrid working arrangements. The role is adaptable and can be delivered from various locations including Bristol, Warrington, or Leicester.
Essential Experience
We are looking for candidates with:
- Solid experience in the production of safety cases, with a clear understanding of associated processes and requirements.
- A strong grasp of the ALARP principle and its application within safety assessments.
- Proven ability to collaborate effectively with other disciplines, including engineering and radiological protection, to deliver integrated project solutions.
While nuclear experience is preferred, we will consider applicants from other highly regulated industries such as Oil & Gas, Chemicals, and Defence.
Qualifications
- Engineering or science degree (or equivalent qualification) with significant demonstrable experience.
- Preferably Chartered (or actively working toward Chartered Status).
Security Clearance
The successful candidate must be able to achieve and maintain SC Level security clearance for this role.
