Senior Production Test & Repair Engineer
General Dynamics Mission Systems is seeking a Senior Production Test & Repair Engineer to join their innovative Test Development team in St Leonards-on-Sea. This role offers an exciting opportunity to work on advanced avionics and potentially land-based armoured vehicle communication systems. You will be instrumental in testing, diagnosing faults, and repairing complex electronic systems, contributing to the next generation of mission computing systems for military aircraft.
This is a hands-on engineering position focused on investigating product failures, diagnosing issues down to component level, performing repair activities, and supporting the resolution of complex electronic assembly failures. We are looking for engineers with strong electronics troubleshooting skills, including PCB fault-finding, schematic interpretation, root cause analysis, and component-level repair. While defence experience is not essential, candidates from aerospace, rail, telecoms, industrial electronics, manufacturing, and medical devices are encouraged to apply.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide effective test solutions for highly technical electronic circuits and units.
- Develop and implement test strategies to ensure product quality and safe functionality.
- Conduct comprehensive technical investigations, leveraging a strong knowledge of electronic hardware and software.
- Undertake component-level fault diagnosis and repair.
- Troubleshoot electronic circuits and interpret electronic schematics.
- Perform root cause analysis of electronic failures and production testing of electronic assemblies.
Essential Experience:
- Component-level fault diagnosis and repair.
- Electronic circuit troubleshooting.
- Ability to read and interpret electronic schematics.

- Experience using oscilloscopes, multimeters, spectrum analysers, and laboratory test equipment.
- Experience fault-finding on analogue, digital, and mixed-signal electronics.
- Minimum of HNC level education or equivalent.
Highly Desirable:
- Avionics or aerospace electronics experience.
- Defence electronics experience.
- Familiarity with Automated Test Equipment (ATE).
- Experience with Environmental and Qualification Testing.
- Familiarity with AI/ML models is preferred.
