Your Day-to-Day Responsibilities
In this role, you will provide technical leadership for complex mechanical handling and infrastructure projects. You will take ownership of critical engineering work packages from concept through to completion. Working within a highly regulated environment, you will be responsible for driving safe, high-quality, and cost-effective engineering solutions. Additionally, you will mentor junior engineers and collaborate effectively with stakeholders across various disciplines.
- Lead the delivery of multidisciplinary mechanical handling and dockside engineering design packages.
- Manage technical requirements, risks, interfaces, and engineering deliverables throughout the project lifecycle.
- Review and verify calculations, drawings, specifications, and technical documentation to ensure fitness for purpose.
- Drive design reviews, optioneering activities, and engineering best practices to achieve safe and effective solutions.
- Mentor engineers and coordinate suppliers, stakeholders, and project teams to achieve successful project outcomes.
What You'll Bring
To excel in this role, you will possess essential experience in:
- Leading complex engineering projects involving cranes, mechanical handling systems, and mechanical and electrical infrastructure.
- Managing crane safety, protection systems, and integration with existing assets and controls.
- Delivering mechanical and electrical integration activities across multidisciplinary engineering projects.
- Working within highly regulated industries such as defence, nuclear, marine, infrastructure, or heavy engineering.
- Leading design reviews, technical assurance activities, and engineering delivery through the full project lifecycle.
Qualifications
- Degree or equivalent qualification in Mechanical Engineering or a related engineering discipline.
- Chartered Engineer status is desirable.
- Membership of a relevant professional engineering institution is advantageous.
- Alternatively, significant demonstrable engineering experience with the capability to achieve Chartered Engineer registration.
Security Clearance
The successful candidate must be a sole UK national and able to achieve and maintain Security Check (SC) security clearance for this role.
