Senior Commercial Manager

Shape the future of defence, technology, and innovation with Babcock. We are seeking a Senior Commercial Manager to join our team in Andover, Hampshire, with flexibility for other Babcock locations across the UK and hybrid working arrangements.

This is an exciting opportunity to influence the growth of Babcock's Land Sector, supporting major business opportunities, innovative technologies, and strategic defence programmes. You will work closely with senior stakeholders, playing a key role in securing and shaping high-value commercial agreements that support national security, operational capability, and future innovation. Whether supporting multiple opportunities or leading the commercial aspects of a major bid, you'll make a meaningful impact while developing your career within one of the UK's leading defence, aerospace, and engineering organisations.

The Role

As a Senior Commercial Manager, you will provide strategic commercial leadership across future business opportunities, helping to transform ideas, technologies, and capabilities into successful commercial outcomes. You will collaborate with bid teams, technical specialists, and business leaders to develop winning propositions, negotiate complex agreements, and ensure robust commercial governance across major opportunities.

Day-to-Day Responsibilities:

  • Provide commercial advice, guidance, and leadership on strategic Land Sector opportunities.
  • Lead negotiations with government authorities, Ministry of Defence customers, and commercial partners on complex contractual arrangements.
  • Develop and implement commercial agreements, including confidentiality agreements, teaming agreements, and customer contracts.
  • Support commercial governance activities across major bids, tenders, and growth opportunities.
  • Guide bid teams and Future Business leaders on commercial strategy, risk management, and contractual compliance.

This role is full-time, 37 hours per week, offering hybrid working arrangements.

Essential Experience:

  • Proven success in leading negotiations and securing high-value Ministry of Defence or public sector contracts.
  • Significant commercial experience supporting or leading complex, high-value tenders and bid activities.
  • Strong background in strategic commercial management within multi-disciplinary environments.
  • Demonstrated ability to assess contractual terms and translate impacts on profit, loss, and delivery risk.
  • Experience supporting or leading the commercialisation of new products, services, or emerging technologies.

Qualifications:

  • Degree level qualification in a commercial discipline (Desired).

The successful candidate must be able to achieve and maintain Security Check (SC) security clearance for this role.
