About the Programme

Programme Structure and Development
This is a comprehensive two-year programme designed to provide you with broad and deep expertise in safety engineering. You will undertake a series of placements across different teams and projects, gaining insight into the full lifecycle of safety-critical systems. Throughout the programme, you will learn to identify, analyse, and mitigate risks in complex engineering environments, covering nuclear safety cases, hazard analysis, regulatory compliance, and safety assurance.
Your development is supported by structured training, personalised mentorship, and participation in our Graduate Development Programme, featuring expert-led masterclasses. We also provide full guidance and cover fees for your journey towards Chartered or Incorporated Engineer status.
Career Progression
Upon successful completion of the programme, you will transition into a permanent role within our Engineering Function. You will have the opportunity to continue building your professional registration and advance into more senior roles, guided by the Babcock Role Framework which outlines clear career pathways.

What We're Looking For
We require candidates who have achieved, or are on track to achieve, a BEng, MEng, BSc, or MSc in Mechanical Engineering, Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry, Electrical, Electronic, or Systems Engineering.
This programme requires you to be able to achieve and maintain Baseline Personnel Security Standard (BPSS), Security Check (SC), and Naval Nuclear Propulsion Information (NNPI) clearance. Due to national security legislation, this post may only be occupied by a sole UK national.
Location
This programme is based in our Nuclear sector in Bristol, with your home base at the Babcock Technology Centre. Placements may also be available at other locations, including Devonport. Agile working is supported, with an expectation of on-site presence multiple times a week. Flexibility and openness to relocation throughout the programme are encouraged.
