About the Role

As a Quantum Engineer at QinetiQ's Malvern site, you will play a pivotal role in developing and applying cutting-edge quantum technologies to solve complex engineering challenges. You will contribute to the delivery of innovative capabilities across a range of application domains, helping to shape the future of quantum-enabled solutions and driving technical excellence.

Key Responsibilities

Your day-to-day activities will involve:

• Undertaking quantum engineering and systems engineering activities to support technical projects from concept through to implementation.
• Applying expertise in quantum sensing, navigation, or computing within multidisciplinary teams.
• Analyzing problems, developing solutions, producing technical documentation, and supporting engineering decision-making.
• Leading small technical teams and contributing to the development of junior engineers.
• Delivering quantum engineering activities and technical work packages in support of project objectives.
• Producing high-quality technical documentation, reports, plans, and specifications.
• Applying systems engineering principles throughout the project lifecycle.
• Identifying, assessing, and escalating technical risks, issues, and dependencies.

What We're Looking For

Essential experience includes:

• Experience in quantum engineering with a focus on quantum sensing, quantum navigation, or quantum computing.
• A strong understanding of relevant disciplines such as physics, linear algebra, computational science, or related engineering fields.
• Proven experience applying systems engineering processes and methodologies across the engineering lifecycle.
• The ability to develop technical documentation, including requirements, specifications, reports, and engineering plans.
• Experience in technical analysis, modeling, and problem-solving within a complex engineering environment.
• The ability to communicate technical information effectively and collaborate with multidisciplinary stakeholders.

Essential qualifications include:

• A postgraduate qualification in Physics, Quantum Technologies, Engineering, Mathematics, Computer Science, or a related discipline, or equivalent experience.
• Evidence of continuing professional development within a relevant technical discipline.

Location and Working Hours

This role is based at our Malvern site, working 37 hours per week with a minimum average site attendance of three days per week.
