About Procurement Contracts (PYC)
We are a multinational team of approximately 80 people from 16 nationalities, present in 6 countries including France, Germany, Spain, Portugal, UK, and Canada. Our diverse backgrounds span procurement, engineering, services, sales, project management, and legal. Our mission is to shape the Airbus Procurement contractual landscape by delivering best-in-class contractual expertise, standards, guidance, and negotiation support, enabling the business to operate efficiently and safely within its contractual environment.
Your Role within the PYCS Team
You will join a transnational team of 20 contract managers located in France, UK, Germany, and Portugal, supporting the Cabin, Equipment & Systems, and Propulsion Procurement organizations. As a contract expert, your main activities will include:
- Providing contractual expertise to buyers and commodity management in the negotiation of procurement agreements (e.g., confidentiality agreements, bailment agreements, complex financial deals, settlement agreements). This will involve direct engagement with suppliers, sometimes leading negotiations, and/or providing back-office support.
- Supporting and advising on Call for Tenders (CFTs) by approving the contractual baseline, assessing contractual elements of bids, preparing/supporting negotiations, and overseeing awards.
- Supporting Airbus projects through the definition of contractual strategy and related business/sourcing models.
- Advising internal stakeholders on the contractual implications of planned supplier initiatives, such as confidentiality or intellectual property aspects.
- Drafting ad hoc contractual documents collaboratively with buyers and commodity management.
- Approving contractual documentation prior to final signature, such as the Contract Validation Form (CVF).
- Providing contractual analysis and expertise throughout the contract lifecycle, including for contract amendments, potential disputes between Airbus and its suppliers, and other major events like supplier insolvency.
- Clarifying contractual issues and positions for the preparation and defense of claims and pre-litigation matters.
- Ensuring the relevance, quality, and consistency of negotiated contractual documents, including compliance with applicable laws, regulations, and Airbus business requirements.
- Identifying key contractual risks for review and validation with stakeholders.
- Contributing to the 'Contracting of Tomorrow' initiative by defining ways of working, tools, business models, and contract templates.
- Developing new and/or enhancing existing training and awareness modules in collaboration with the Procurement Academy and for specific commodity needs.
- Coaching and upskilling team members on-the-job to grow contractual competencies within Procurement.
Requirements and Expectations
We are seeking an open-minded, self-motivated team player with a “Can Do” attitude who enjoys solving contractual issues and challenges. You should be customer-oriented with excellent communication and collaboration skills. Analytical and rigorous, you must be able to break down and explain complex topics to various stakeholders. Pragmatism is key, balancing contractual and business risks, priorities, oversights, and compliance. You should be willing to undertake both operational support and strategic projects. Occasional business travel is expected.
Essential qualifications include a legal background or contractual knowledge gained from previous experience, and fluency in English (both oral and written), with strong drafting abilities.
