Project Manager (AIT & Production) Internship
We are seeking enthusiastic Undergraduates to join our Project Management (AIT & Production) team for a 12-month internship at Airbus Defence and Space in Stevenage. You will become an integrated member of the Spacecraft Production team, focusing on the Stevenage Mechanical Platform within the Manufacturing Assembly Integration and Test (MAIT) Stevenage organisation.
In this role, you will support the team in delivering projects and products with a focus on Quality, on Time, and on Cost. You will contribute to the delivery of completed spacecraft modules to internal customers and stakeholders, with opportunities to work on Telecommunication spacecrafts, Earth Observation, Navigation, and Science missions.
About the Role:
This internship offers a unique insight into potential career paths within Airbus, specifically in project management and control. You will have the opportunity to apply your theoretical knowledge in a practical, industry setting and gain crucial experience. The team is currently focused on the ramp-up and complex industrialisation aspects of the new product “OneSat”.
What You Will Be Doing:
- Accountable for ensuring schedules are issued and updated, working in line with department expectations.
- Responsible for driving activities to ensure On-Time delivery.
- Managing risks and issues that could impact major project milestones.
- Accountable for cost management and reporting within the project's operational scope.
- Reporting to and managing expectations of a range of internal stakeholders.
What You Will Bring:
- Currently studying towards a degree in Manufacturing, Production Engineering, or Project Management.
- Knowledge in Project Management principles.
- IT literacy, including proficiency in reporting and spreadsheets.
- Strong interpersonal skills, with a collaborative mindset and a willingness to share knowledge.
- You must be an undergraduate for the entire duration of the placement.
Guidance and supervision will be provided, but you will be given significant freedom and responsibility to develop projects independently.
Benefits:
- Salary: £24,500 per annum.
- 37 hours per week with flexible working hours.
- Hybrid working options are available depending on the role.
- Half day Fridays (subject to completing full hours prior).
- 25 days holiday plus bank holidays.
Security Clearance:
You will be subject to a BPSS (Baseline Personnel Security Standard) check. Depending on the role, you may also need to gain UK SC-level Security Clearance or Export Control.
