Project Controls Graduate Programme
Embark on a dynamic two-year graduate programme designed to build a strong foundation in Project Controls. This programme is crucial for keeping critical defence programmes on track, within budget, and delivering against their objectives. You will gain invaluable experience in providing the analysis and forecasting that enables teams to understand performance, manage risk, and plan effectively, learning how schedule, cost, risk, and performance data support the successful delivery of complex projects.
Programme Structure and Development
Over two years, you will complete a series of placements (up to six months each) across various disciplines including Planning & Scheduling, Cost Management, Risk & Opportunity Management, Project Reporting, Governance, and Assurance. These rotations offer practical experience on live projects throughout the project lifecycle. You will take on increasing responsibility, developing essential technical, commercial, and analytical skills. The programme includes structured support, personalised training, dedicated mentorship, expert-led masterclasses, and technical training in core Project Controls methodologies and tools. Regular feedback and support towards professional accreditation will accelerate your development.
Career Progression and Rewards
Upon successful completion of the programme, you will have the opportunity to move into a permanent Project Controls role. You can choose to develop as a broad professional or specialise in areas like Planning, Cost Control, or Risk Management. What You Need to Apply
Applicants should have achieved, or be on track to achieve, a degree in one of the following subjects: Risk Management, Quantity Surveying, Construction Management, Finance, Economics, Project Management, Data Science, Maths, Statistics, Business Management, Information/IT Management, Sciences, or Engineering. For this programme, you must be able to achieve and maintain Baseline Personnel Security Standard (BPSS) and Security Check (SC) security clearance. Many of our programmes are subject to Security Clearance and Trade Control restrictions.
Location and Business Area
Places on this programme for September 2027 are available in our Mission Technologies business in Bristol. This area is ideal for those interested in advanced manufacturing and disruptive technologies, contributing to the delivery of advanced communications systems, electronic warfare capabilities, or satellite operations supporting national defence. You will be involved in innovative programmes supporting technologies across land, sea, air, and space. Agile working is supported, with an expectation of working on-site multiple times a week.
