Plant Engineer
At Babcock, we are committed to creating a safe and secure world. As a Plant Engineer at our Plymouth, Devon site, you will play a vital role in supporting the safe operation of critical nuclear facilities that underpin the UK's defence capabilities.
Working within the Plant Management Group, you will ensure that nuclear-implicated equipment and services are operated in line with stringent safety, engineering, and regulatory requirements. The Role
Day-to-day responsibilities include:
- Supporting facility operations by identifying and managing actions to ensure design intent and safety requirements are maintained.
- Authorising nuclear safety documentation and maintaining accurate records relating to facility plant and assets.
- Managing the implementation of engineering activities while coordinating with a range of stakeholders across production, design, and technical teams.
- Controlling master documentation for nuclear safety management arrangements within the facility.
- Investigating, implementing, and supporting improvements and modifications to nuclear facilities and associated assets.
This is a full-time, permanent role working 35 hours per week, based at Devonport. Flexible working patterns are available, with a combination of on-site working and up to 1-2 days per week working from home where business needs allow.
Essential Experience
- Experience supporting engineering operations, maintenance, or modification activities.
- Knowledge of working practices within a high-hazard or highly regulated industry.
- Experience using Microsoft Office applications, including Word, Excel, and Outlook.
- Experience producing technical, scientific, or engineering reports.
- Ability to collaborate effectively with multiple stakeholders in a safety-focused environment.
Qualifications
- Level 4 qualification in a STEM discipline with relevant engineering experience.
Security Clearance
The successful candidate must be able to achieve and maintain Standard (BPSS) / Security Check (SC) security clearance for this role.
