About the Role:
As a Planning Engineer, you will be instrumental in transforming complex engineering and maintenance data into robust, achievable maintenance plans. You'll work within a collaborative team environment, engaging with various stakeholders to identify maintenance needs, tackle planning challenges, and develop schedules that ensure the successful execution of engineering activities. Your work directly supports national security and offers excellent prospects for growth in planning, engineering, and project controls.
Your Day-to-Day Responsibilities:
- Identify maintenance activities and work packages from diverse engineering data sources.
- Develop and maintain indicative planning schedules and key date schedules.
- Resolve planning issues, data gaps, and activity ambiguities to meet delivery objectives.
- Liaise with engineering teams, project stakeholders, and customers to ensure planning accuracy and quality.
- Support the planning and coordination of in-service submarine maintenance periods.
This is a full-time, permanent position, 35 hours per week, based at Devonport Royal Dockyard. Hybrid working arrangements are available. Occasional travel to other Babcock sites, including Bristol and Clyde, may be required.
Essential Experience:
- Experience delivering engineering projects, maintenance programmes, or engineering services.
- Proven ability to analyse technical information and translate requirements into structured plans.
- Experience working collaboratively with multiple stakeholders in a complex environment.
- Planning, project management, or project controls experience is advantageous.
- Knowledge of submarine or surface ship operations and maintenance, and familiarity with Primavera P6, would be beneficial.
Qualifications:
- An engineering qualification such as NC, HNC, HND, or equivalent demonstrable engineering experience.
Security Clearance:
The successful candidate must be able to achieve and maintain Standard (BPSS) / Security Check (SC) security clearance.
