This programme focuses on developing robust safety cases, essential for our projects. You will gain practical experience in identifying and managing potential risks, supporting hazard studies, contributing to safety reviews, and producing technical assessments for safe nuclear work.

You will learn to develop and maintain safety documentation, ensuring risks are reduced to As Low As Reasonably Practicable (ALARP). Throughout the programme, you will collaborate with experienced engineers, safety specialists, and radiation protection experts, who will provide invaluable support for your learning and development. Cavendish Nuclear offers involvement in a wide range of impactful projects, including the decommissioning of legacy nuclear sites and support for future clean energy solutions. This role is an excellent opportunity to build expertise, grow your career, and make a significant contribution to protecting people, the environment, and the future of nuclear energy.

Programme Structure

This two-year programme is designed to provide a comprehensive understanding of safety case development. You will undertake placements covering safety case authoring, hazard analysis, compliance reviews, and environmental safety. Upon completion, you will have a strong foundation in hazard identification, risk assessment, and safety case development, preparing you for the next stage of your career.

Development and Support

From the outset, you will receive structured support, personalized training, and dedicated mentorship. You will join our Graduate Development Programme, which includes expert-led masterclasses on essential professional skills. We offer full guidance and cover all associated fees to support your journey towards Chartered or Incorporated Engineer status.

Career Progression

Upon successful completion of the programme, you will transition into a permanent role as a Safety Case Engineer or Consultant within our Nuclear sector. Your responsibilities will include developing, maintaining, and delivering safety justifications for complex defence and civil nuclear projects. Continuous development is encouraged, with support for progression into senior roles and increased responsibility, guided by the Babcock Role Framework which outlines clear career pathways and development opportunities.
