About the Role

You will be instrumental in delivering essential inspection and quality assurance activities for submarine maintenance and repair programmes. Working collaboratively with experienced specialists, you will apply industry-leading inspection techniques to identify defects, inform engineering decisions, and uphold the highest standards of safety and performance.
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct non-destructive examinations in strict accordance with applicable specifications, procedures, and standards.
- Perform inspections utilizing radiographic, ultrasonic, magnetic particle, liquid penetrant, and visual testing methods.
- Interpret inspection results accurately and generate comprehensive technical reports and documentation.
- Provide critical support to maintenance and repair activities through effective defect identification and engineering assurance.
- Collaborate closely with engineering, operations, and quality teams to ensure compliance and drive continuous improvement initiatives.
What You'll Need
This is a full-time, permanent role working 36 hours per week. The successful candidate will be based at HMNB Clyde Faslane.
Essential Experience:
- Proven experience with non-destructive examination and inspection techniques.
- A solid understanding of inspection procedures, standards, and quality requirements.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to clearly articulate technical findings.
- Proficiency in producing accurate reports and maintaining detailed inspection records.
- Experience working within highly regulated environments such as engineering, manufacturing, defence, nuclear, or marine sectors.
Qualifications:
- PCN Level II in Ultrasonics (3.1/3.2) is mandatory.
- A minimum of one additional PCN Level II qualification in one of the following: Penetrant Testing, Magnetic Particle Testing, Visual Inspection, Radiography.
- PCN Level II Eddy Current is desirable.
- PCN Level II Advanced Radiation Safety is desirable.
- CSWIP 3.0 or CSWIP 3.1 qualifications are desirable.
Security Clearance
The successful candidate must be able to obtain and maintain Security Check (SC) security clearance for this position.
