Summer Placement - Missile Architecture 2027
We are seeking curious minds and fresh perspectives to join us as Missile Architects and help design systems that shape our future. This 10-week placement, starting in June 2027, is an exceptional opportunity to apply your university learning to real-world projects and technologies within a leading defence organization.
As a Missile Architect at MBDA, you will be deployed across various project teams, drawing upon diverse inputs to drive a coherent top-level design for our missiles. The Missile Architecture Function encompasses Electrical Architecture, Test and Testability Architecture, and Mechanical Architecture.
During your placement, you will work on allocated projects or improvement initiatives, potentially at any stage of their lifecycle. While you may focus on one engineering discipline, you will gain awareness and knowledge across all three areas of Missile Architecture, providing you with a unique breadth of understanding in a short period.
What We Offer:
- 10-Week Placement: Starting June 2027, with the potential to secure a graduate role before your final year if you perform well.
- Dynamic Working: 3-4 days per week on-site due to workload classification.
- Salary: £24,460 (pro-rata).
- Pension: Maximum total contribution of up to 14% (employer and employee).
- Overtime: Opportunity for paid overtime.
- Annual Leave: 5 days.

What You Will Do:
- Gain a breadth of awareness and knowledge across the three domains within Missile Architecture.
- Focus on one domain with tasking that directly impacts delivery or improvement activities.
- Have the opportunity to spend time with experienced engineers, supporting your development.
What We Are Looking For:
- Current undergraduate working towards a degree in Engineering (including Aeronautical/Aerospace, Electrical/Electronic, Mechanical & Systems) or Physics.
Security Requirements:
This role requires the successful candidate to undergo HMG Basic Personnel Security Standard (BPSS) checks. Applicants must be a British Citizen or a Dual UK national with British citizenship. Restrictions and/or limitations relating to nationality and/or rights to work may apply.
