Aircraft Mechanical Fitter
Airbus Helicopters UK Ltd is seeking a skilled Aircraft Mechanical Fitter to join the MFTS operation at RAF Shawbury, Shropshire. Reporting to the Base Maintenance Manager, you will be instrumental in ensuring the operational readiness of aircraft by assisting Certifying Engineers and performing essential maintenance activities.
Key Responsibilities:
- Assist Certifying Engineers in delivering serviceable aircraft to meet the daily flying programme requirements.
- Ensure strict compliance with all Aviation regulations and Company procedures.
- Accomplish maintenance activities as directed by Maintenance Supervisors to a high standard, ensuring the continued safe operation of the aircraft.
- Assist with aircraft maintenance, including airframe structure, power plant, mechanical systems, and electrical systems, under the supervision of Certifying Engineers.
- Support the day-to-day running of the Hangar, including aircraft movement and general housekeeping responsibilities.
Knowledge and Skills:
- Experience in an Aviation engineering environment.
- Knowledge of UK CAA regulations.
- Good knowledge of engine and airframe systems.
- Ability to work effectively as part of a team.
- Self-motivated with the ability to work on own initiative.
- Strong communication and organisational skills.
- Flexibility to meet company and customer needs.
- Operational resilience and collaborative problem-solving skills.
Fitter-to-LAE Pathway:
Aircraft Avionics Technicians studying towards their UK CAA Part 66 B2 Licence, with at least 6 modules completed and over 3 years of documented experience, are encouraged to apply. Successful candidates will be enrolled onto the AHUK Fitter to LAE Development scheme.
Education, Qualifications or Training:
- Essential: Level 3 Vocational Qualification in Aircraft Engineering or a related Engineering Discipline.
Shift Pattern:
7 on, 7 off shift: Wednesday to Tuesday, 0730 - 1930 (30 min unpaid break). This involves 160 hours worked over 28 days.
Location:
RAF Shawbury, Shropshire.
Additional Requirements:
- This position is subject to National Security Vetting. Candidates must be able to obtain SC clearance.
- All successful applicants will undergo a mandatory BPSS check.
- Applicants must meet all Export Compliance Regulations.
- Must possess the current, legal right to work in the United Kingdom. Airbus cannot offer sponsorship for employment Visas.
- Occasional requirement to work at other sites may arise.
