About the Role
We have an exciting opportunity for a passionate Mechanical Test Engineer to join our dynamic team within Manufacturing. Your role will be pivotal in providing technical support to Operations for environmental and mechanical testing of weapon systems in development and production, ensuring programme targets are met to agreed time, cost, and quality requirements.
You will provide environmental and mechanical test engineering technical support during design and development phases, from initial concept through to Production Readiness Review and release to Operations. Additionally, you will support test facility introduction, ensuring configuration control of equipment and facilities is in place before use, generating risk assessments, and supporting test specifications and operator instructions.
This role involves supporting ESS (Environmental Stress Screening) and mechanical testing by diagnosing production test issues in conjunction with the Calibration & Maintenance department. You will evaluate technical problems to develop proposals for test equipment investigations and corrective actions, including process improvements. Working closely with Operations and other stakeholders, you will overcome technical challenges and drive continuous improvement.

Qualifications and Experience
- HNC level of qualifications or equivalent in Mechanical Engineering or a related subject.
- Understanding of thermal, vibration, and mechanical test principles and test equipment.
- Leak testing experience including helium, vacuum, and pressure drop testing.
- Experience in developing, deploying, and supporting environmental and vibration test facilities would be beneficial (though not essential).
- Previous experience using PC-based vibration control systems would also be beneficial.
