Life Cycle Engineer - Adour
An exciting opportunity is available for an enthusiastic Life Cycle Engineer to join the UK & I Mature Programmes Life Cycle Engineering - Adour team in Bristol. This full-time role is based on a hybrid model, requiring 3 days on site per week.
As a Life Cycle Engineer, your primary responsibility will be to provide in-service technical support for the Adour engine, ensuring its safe, reliable, and uninterrupted operation globally. You will also influence product maturity throughout its lifecycle to meet customer and business demands. This challenging and engaging role offers the chance to take ownership of customer operational issues and serve as the direct technical interface with customers, balancing their needs with business objectives. You will collaborate closely with specialist engineering disciplines including Stress, Critical Parts Lifing, Safety and Reliability, Performance, and Controls, gaining valuable insights into their operations.

What you will be doing:
- Act as the Customer Engineering interface, working with Operators, Partners, Airframers, Regulatory Authorities, and Maintenance, Repair & Overhaul facilities to provide product technical support for in-service operations.
- Manage known and potential safety issues, including Safety Alert Reports and Red Tops.
- Ensure compliance with requirements specified by regulatory authorities and adhere to the technical and business requirements of internal & external stakeholders.
- Identify, investigate, and resolve in-service technical issues (e.g., queries and operational arisings), leading investigations to establish root causes and implement containment/corrective actions.
- Manage issues affecting Maturity, Lifecycle Cost, Reliability, and Maintainability, while maintaining Design Intent.
- Prepare and deliver technical communications, such as presentations and reports, to platform providers, regulators, customers, and internal stakeholders.
- Develop and approve the technical content of publications and communications, including acceptance limit development.
- Identify cost reduction opportunities by reviewing and maintaining life cycle engineering policies and associated maintenance planning documentation.
- Influence new product design using in-service experience and develop support strategies across the product lifecycle to meet customer and business requirements.
- Contribute to developing support strategies around business, product, customer, and industrial relationships; coordinate work packages within budget and represent the company.
- Actively participate within a team to achieve deliverables.
Who we are looking for:
- Educated to degree level in a STEM subject and/or possess experience in a relevant engineering environment (Mechanical, Aeronautical, Electrical, or Controls). Other qualifications combined with relevant experience may be considered.
- Working towards Chartered/Incorporated status, or be a Chartered Engineer/hold an affiliate/associate membership of a relevant professional body.
- A broad understanding of Gas Turbine physical and functional characteristics is desirable (training will be provided).
- Familiarity with the in-service operation environment, including the Adour product and regulatory/compliance requirements, would be advantageous.
- Strong technical and analytical skills, excellent problem-solving abilities, and capable of systems-level thinking.
- Personal drive, excellent communication and presentation skills, with the ability to contribute effectively in a team environment.
- Demonstrated high level of customer focus, good business awareness, and a clear understanding of process improvement principles.
- Ability to take the lead in investigations, support/lead cross-functional teams (specialists, suppliers, customers, partners), and specify/execute work packages.
- Willingness to travel both in the UK and overseas, sometimes at short notice and for extended periods.
