About the Role

As an IT Customer Support Specialist at RNAS Culdrose, Helston, Cornwall, you will be the primary point of contact for users, operational stakeholders, and Babcock's internal IT teams. You will play a crucial role in supporting the delivery and maintenance of vital IT services, hardware, audio-visual equipment, telecommunications, and training systems that underpin military flying training. This dynamic defence environment offers a unique opportunity to blend technical support expertise with customer engagement and operational responsibility.

This role is integral to supporting the UK Military Flying Training System, where technology is fundamental to preparing military personnel. You will be central to delivering exceptional IT support, ensuring that training environments are consistently operational, connected, and effective. Your daily contributions will directly enable critical defence training, while providing avenues for developing your technical skills, forging strong stakeholder relationships, and advancing your career within a global engineering and technology organisation.

Key Responsibilities

  • Support users with IT incidents and service requests, ensuring an excellent customer experience.
  • Act as the escalation point for local IT issues and flying training events.
  • Manage and maintain IT hardware, software, telecommunications, and audio-visual equipment across the site.
  • Conduct IT inductions for new personnel, including the preparation and deployment of hardware and user accounts.
  • Configure and support training environments, encompassing classroom technology and equipment deployments.

Essential Experience

  • Proven experience in providing second-line IT support within a professional setting.
  • Proficiency in supporting users within a Windows and Microsoft technology ecosystem.
  • Strong capabilities in customer service, communication, and stakeholder management.
  • Demonstrated ability to build effective relationships with colleagues, customers, and broader business teams.
  • Commercial awareness and an understanding of service delivery against agreed standards and expectations.

Qualifications

  • ITIL Foundation Certification is desirable.

Security Clearance

The successful candidate must be able to achieve and maintain Security Check (SC) security clearance for this role.
