The Role
Our Mission Systems Division, based in Lincoln, delivers cutting-edge aviation IT systems and is expanding due to continued success. We are seeking experienced Systems Engineers to support the development and delivery of bespoke IT products. This role is integral to our Mission Systems Team, which has recently adopted an Agile working methodology. As a Systems Engineer (Requirements and Test), you will be a key member of a multi-disciplined Scrum team, directly supporting the product development cycle. You will ensure that Systems Engineering aspects, including requirements derivation and test authoring, are executed to the highest standards.
Main Duties
- Product Development Team:
- Derivation of software and system requirements.
- Development of software and system test procedures to satisfy derived requirements.
- Assisting in the design and implementation of product features.
- Maintaining solid Systems Engineering principles within a sprint.
- Overall Product Development Support:
- Contributing to systems engineering aspects of product development.
- Conducting software and system tests.
- Reviewing the work of others to ensure suitable quality.
- Continuous improvement of processes and procedures.
- Undertaking related project activities.
- Supporting Mission Systems’ goals and activities.

Qualifications, Skills, and Experience
Essential:
- A methodical approach to work.
- Expert user of modern office applications (Microsoft Word, Excel, etc.).
- Understanding of Requirements, Architecture, and Verification concepts for Software and Systems.
- Experience using Requirements, Verification, and Configuration Management tools (e.g., IBM Rational DOORS, Azure DevOps).
- Proven experience in developing traceable requirements and design.
- Proven experience in developing tests to satisfy stated requirements.
- Understanding of configuration control principles.
Desirable:
- Experienced user of IBM Rational DOORS.
- Experience with configuration control tools such as SVN or Git.
- Knowledge of principles for developing safety-related systems (e.g., RTCA/DO-178C, DO-200A, DO-254, IEC61508).
- Strong understanding of aviation environments.
- System, hardware, or software test experience, ideally within a regulated domain (e.g., aerospace).
- Experience with Agile or Scrum methods.
- Working knowledge of on-aircraft integration.
- Software development experience using .Net, C, or C++.
Due to the nature of the role, the successful applicant must be a UK National. National Security Vetting may be required, involving criminal record, security service, and credit reference checks. A minimum of 5 years of UK residency is normally required.
