The Role
Mission Training Devices is looking for talented software developers to join its expanding team in preparation for exciting upcoming opportunities. The role will involve developing software for synthetic training devices, encompassing both stand-alone software applications and Mixed-Reality integrations.
Key Responsibilities and Experience
- Developing software for synthetic training devices.
- Building stand-alone software applications and Mixed-Reality integrations.
- Experience in the following areas is sought (in order of preference):
- Building Windows Applications in C# / C++
- Networking across Windows Applications (TCP and UDP protocols, Multicasting, VPN / packet segregation)
- Building Instructor Operation Station software
- Interacting with 3rd Party software application plugins
- Defence Simulation or simulator module creation
- Experience with collaborative development tools, specifically Azure DevOps and Git, is essential.
- Experience of administering such platforms is considered beneficial.
- Experience of, or qualifications in, SCRUM development methodology is advantageous.
Location and Travel
We are open to applications from across the UK. Due to the nature of the initial project, semi-frequent travel to MoD Boscombe Down is expected for face-to-face meetings and hardware work. Twice-monthly visits are to be expected, with at least one overnight stay locally.
Security Requirements
Due to the nature of elements of the role, the successful applicant must be a UK National and may be required to successfully complete National Security Vetting. This may involve criminal record, security service, and credit reference checks. Qualification will also normally require a minimum UK residency of at least 5 years.
