// Role Summary
Join Airbus Operations as an Intern in Aerodynamic Machine Learning, supporting the Loads & Aeroelastics department. This 6-month internship offers hands-on experience in developing and optimizing aircraft designs using cutting-edge technology.
// Key Responsibilities
- Develop machine learning methods for gust event pressure field analysis.
- Compare ML results with non-linear simulation results.
- Optimize global aircraft design during concept phases.
- Build and develop methods for nonlinearities in Aeroelastic models.
- Collaborate internationally with flight physics departments and global teams.
- Gain experience with modern, diversified technologies in an international environment.
// Role Specification
Airbus Operations is offering a mandatory 6-month internship within the Aerodynamic Machine Learning team, supporting the Loads & Aeroelastics department. This is an excellent opportunity to gain practical experience as a Guts Loads Engineer (d/f/m) and contribute to the development of aircraft physics.
About the Role
You will be instrumental in developing methods based on machine learning to obtain pressure fields resulting from gust events. A key responsibility will be to compare these machine learning-derived results against non-linear simulation results. Furthermore, you will contribute to optimizing the global design of Airbus products during the concept phases and build/develop methods to incorporate nonlinearities within an Aeroelastic model. As a new member of our team, you will actively support our journey with new aircraft configurations, model-based systems engineering, automation, and machine learning.
Your Responsibilities
- Develop methods based on machine learning to obtain pressure fields due to a gust event.
- Compare the obtained results versus non-linear results.
- Optimize the global design of Airbus products during the concept phases.
- Build and develop methods to consider nonlinearities inside an Aeroelastic model.
- Actively support the team as a new member on its journey.
Your Profile
- Currently enrolled as a full-time student in Engineering, Physics, Maths, Data Science, or an equivalent field.
- Strong knowledge and experience in Aerodynamics and Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD).
- Proficiency in coding using Python and/or Matlab.
- Knowledge and experience with training machine learning models.
- A passion for understanding physical aspects and applying engineering judgment.
- Negotiating level of English; German language skills are beneficial.
What We Offer
- A competitive monthly salary of EUR 750 gross.
- Work-life balance with a 35-hour week and flexitime.
- An international environment with global networking opportunities.
- Experience working with modern and diversified technologies.
- Opportunity to participate in the Generation Airbus Community.
Location & Commute
This internship is based at Airbus's largest production site for civil aircraft in Hamburg (Finkenwerder). You can commute via ferry from Teufelsbrück or take a ferry followed by a short bike ride.
