The Role

As a Field IT Support Engineer, you will be the hands-on technical expert ensuring QinetiQ colleagues across the UK have the necessary technology and support to perform critical work. You will resolve issues that cannot be fixed remotely, providing support across a diverse range of sites and technologies.

Your day-to-day responsibilities will include:

  • Providing onsite IT support and technical troubleshooting across QinetiQ locations.
  • Investigating and resolving hardware, desktop, and infrastructure-related incidents and service requests.
  • Building, deploying, and maintaining end-user devices and associated equipment.
  • Supporting network infrastructure through basic patching, connectivity checks, and equipment installation.
  • Managing and prioritising your own workload and ticket queue in line with ITIL practices.
  • Collaborating with wider IT teams and escalating issues where appropriate.

Essential Experience

  • Experience working within an IT Support, Desktop Support, Infrastructure Support, or Field Service environment.
  • Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills across a broad range of IT technologies.
  • Experience supporting Windows desktops, laptops, peripherals, and end-user devices.
  • Experience working with ticket management systems and service delivery processes.
  • Ability to work independently and manage competing priorities.
  • Willingness to travel regularly and work across multiple UK locations.

Essential Qualifications

  • Full UK Driving Licence.
  • Eligible to obtain and maintain SC Security Clearance.
  • Relevant IT qualification, apprenticeship, degree, or equivalent practical experience.

This role is 37 hours per week, based at our Malvern site, with regular travel to other QinetiQ and customer sites. The Malvern facility is a hub for electronic warfare, surveillance, and complex system integration, significantly contributing to the UK’s defence capabilities by developing technologies for military and civilian applications.

Please note that all applicants must be eligible for SC clearance as a minimum.
