// Role Specification

Role Overview

As part of a multiskilled team, you will be responsible for Finite Element Modelling (FEM) and Digital Analysis activities to support stress analysis and justifications for metallic and composite structures.

Key Responsibilities

Your primary role will involve close collaboration with Loads, Design, and Stress Analysis teams to build and/or develop Finite Element Models. You will extract results to assist in justifying stress analyses. The FEMs encompass Global FEMs (GFEMs), Detailed FEMs (DFEMs), and Integrated FEMs (IFEMs).

Additional tasks may include:

  • Managing offload packages of work to suppliers, including the FEM factory.
  • Liaising with customer services for in-service repairs.
  • Guiding and supporting suppliers in providing Finite Element Results.
  • Ensuring adherence to FEM governance, airworthiness regulations, relevant design principles, processes, methods, and manufacturing capabilities guidelines.

About the Team

We are a dynamic, multifunctional team dedicated to delivering Finite Element Models, results, processes, and tools that support the Airbus fleet. A unique aspect of our team is our involvement across all Airbus commercial aircraft, including Research & Technology (R&T).

What You Will Be Doing

  • Leading FEM and Digital Analysis activities to support stress analysis.
  • Providing technical guidance and support to internal Airbus teams (including offshore teams) and any required suppliers.
  • Supporting and developing training for early careers and new starters, as well as contributing to the professional development of yourself and other FEM engineers.
  • Leading packages of work where necessary and integrating with analysis teams.
  • Developing future methods and processes for Finite Element Analysis, collaborating with method experts and tool owners to enhance the analysis capabilities of the FEM team.
  • Deploying EVE, NGSA (New Generation Stress Analysis), and FDNS (Flight Dynamics and sizing) for future programs.

About You

  • You have experience in aerospace structural analysis engineering.
  • You thrive in a team environment, developing effective solutions to complex technical problems.
  • You are organized and capable of monitoring tasks to ensure efficient progress and meet customer expectations.
  • You possess strong collaborative skills, able to work effectively with internal and external teams (e.g., external subcontractors) to ensure efficient task delivery.
  • You have excellent communication skills.

Essential Skills

  • Aerospace Engineering degree (or Masters) and relevant engineering experience.
  • Understanding of fundamental stress analysis methods and the ability to develop them.
  • Knowledge of the static strength behaviors (loading, failure modes, etc.) of aircraft structures.
  • Experience with both metallic and composite structures.
  • Understanding of airworthiness regulations.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills (both written and verbal).
  • Ability to work under pressure, ensuring technically correct, on-time, and high-quality delivery within tight time constraints.
  • Pragmatic problem-solving skills and the ability to make decisions based on sound engineering rationale.

Preferred Skills

  • Knowledge of Finite Element analysis application and FEA tools.
  • Understanding of relevant Airbus design principles, processes, methods, and manufacturing capabilities.
  • Experience in Finite Element Analysis.
  • Experience within Airbus.
  • Good knowledge and experience with both metallic and composite Airbus Wing structures.

Additional Information

  • Prior Airbus experience is an added advantage.
  • Automation skills, including EVE workflow development, are an added advantage.
  • The target hire date is summer 2027.
  • This job requires awareness of potential compliance risks and a commitment to act with integrity.
  • This position is offered under local conditions.
