Engineering Undergraduate Summer Internship
Join our 10-12 week Engineering Undergraduate Summer Internship programme in Rosyth, Scotland. You will work on exciting defence programmes and cutting-edge technologies, collaborating with experienced teams to deliver complex engineering projects from design through to maintenance and support.
What you’ll be doing
Your role will involve supporting shipbuilding, advanced manufacturing, and engineering activities. You will have the opportunity to contribute to significant programmes such as the Type 31 Frigate programme, Missile Tubes Assembly Programme, the UK Submarine Dismantling Programme, and Queen Elizabeth Class aircraft carrier maintenance.
Throughout the programme, you will:
- Build your knowledge of marine engineering, electrical and mechanical systems, naval architecture, systems design, health and safety, and project management.
- Develop skills in problem-solving, technical analysis, testing and validation, communication, engineering tools and software, collaboration, and technical documentation.
- Develop the behaviours needed to become a professional engineer, including professionalism, adaptability, resilience, safety awareness, attention to detail, and continuous learning.

What you’ll need
- Currently studying a Science, Technology, Engineering, or Maths (STEM) based degree in a relevant subject, such as Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Naval Architecture, Marine Engineering, or Systems Engineering.
- Must be able to achieve and maintain Baseline Personnel Security Standard (BPSS) security clearance. Note that place of birth, nationality, citizenship, or residency may impact eligibility for certain programmes due to Security Clearance and Trade Control restrictions.
