Airbus Operations in Bremen is seeking several Engineers for Aerodynamics to support the flight physics department. About the Role
Join the Aircraft Aerodynamics team within the Airbus Flight Physics transnational centre in Bremen. This team is responsible for the aerodynamic characterization of the overall aircraft for all Airbus programs. We create models that represent aerodynamics for various departments, including aircraft loads, aircraft performance, and handling qualities. Our work directly contributes to the design, optimisation, and validation of external aircraft shapes, structures, and systems.
We are involved from the initial design stages, employing numerical simulation, wind-tunnel testing, and flight-test to update and validate designs and data. To meet the demands of more sustainable aviation, we continuously evolve our aerodynamic design and characterisation methods, embracing new ways of working, digital capabilities, curiosity, and imagination. Your Tasks and Responsibilities
- Deliver aerodynamic models and data for loads assessment, aircraft performance, and handling qualities.
- Contribute to the design, optimisation, and validation of external aircraft shapes, structure, and systems.
- Define and contribute to future aerodynamic processes and technologies to maintain Airbus's position at the forefront of innovation.
- Collaborate with transnational project teams and disciplines to secure multi-disciplinary design solutions, meeting customer requirements on time, within budget, and to quality standards.
- Apply data science methods, including data analytics, machine learning/artificial intelligence, and model-based system engineering, to solve aerodynamic business tasks.
- Provide aerodynamic support to manufacturing plants and airlines.
Your Boarding Pass
- Master's degree in Engineering/Aerospace Engineering, Physics, or an equivalent qualification.
- Sound understanding of aerodynamics.
- First experience in aerodynamic numerical simulations (Computational Fluid Dynamics), wind tunnel testing, or flight testing.
- Expertise in digitalization topics such as data fusion, surrogate modeling, model-based system engineering, big data analytics, machine learning, and cloud computing.
- Good working knowledge of a programming language (preferably Matlab, Python).
- Knowledge of CFD (CAD, meshing, turbulence models, limitations) would be an advantage.
- Familiarity with data science (machine learning and artificial intelligence).
- Aptitude for complex problem-solving and innovation, combined with excellent communication and strong presentation skills.
- Team-oriented, empowered mindset with a strong customer focus.
- Negotiation level in English and basic language skills in German.
This role involves worldwide business travel, and you must be able to travel accordingly.
