About the Role
Join the Electronic Engineering department at MBDA for a fundamental role in developing cutting-edge missile systems. You will be involved in designing and integrating the electronics that power our Weapon Control Units, Actuators, Telemetry & Communication Systems, and more.

The Summer Placement Programme
The MBDA Electronic Engineering Summer Placement scheme is an excellent opportunity to kick-start your early career. You will work alongside highly skilled Engineers who are keen to invest in your development and support you in reaching your technical potential.
Over the 10-week placement, you will collaborate with a small team of fellow undergraduate students to plan, manage, design, and deliver a missile-related project. The specific approach and solution will be determined by you and your team, with guidance from experienced engineers from various fields, including Mechanical, Test Systems, and Software.
Dedicated mentors will provide support both technically and professionally throughout your placement.
What You Will Gain
This placement offers the chance to develop your skills and knowledge in one or more of the following electronics design-related areas:
- Detailed Circuit Design
- Analogue and Digital Circuit Test Techniques
- Analysis and Characterisation Techniques
- Manufacturing Processes (Machining, PCB Manufacture, Circuit Card Assembly)
- Test & Evaluation of Design
Programme Structure
Your time will be spent in the lab, building experimental hardware. In some cases, you may also be involved in writing software and firmware.
What We Offer
- Placement Duration: 10 weeks, starting June 2027
- Working Pattern: 5 days per week on-site
- Salary: £24,460 (pro rata)
- Pension: Maximum total contribution of up to 14% (employer and employee)
- Overtime: Opportunity for paid overtime
- Annual Leave: 5 days

- Career Progression: Perform well on your placement, and you could secure a graduate role before your final year.
Security and Eligibility
To be eligible for this role, you must be a British Citizen or a Dual UK national with British citizenship. Restrictions and/or limitations relating to nationality and/or rights to work may apply.
As a minimum, and after an offer stage, all successful candidates will need to undergo HMG Basic Personnel Security Standard (BPSS) checks, which are managed by the MBDA Personnel Security Team.
