Electrical Instrumentation Technician
At Babcock, we're dedicated to creating a safe and secure world. As an Electrical Instrumentation Technician at our HMNB Clyde Faslane site, you'll play a crucial role in maintaining critical defence capabilities.
The Role
This is an out-of-the-ordinary role where you will support one of the UK's most important maritime defence establishments. You will work with specialist Test, Measurement and Diagnostic Equipment (TMDE), ensuring that critical systems are accurate, reliable, and ready for defence operations.
Day-to-Day Responsibilities
- Carry out calibration, adjustment, fault-finding, and repair activities on a wide range of test, measurement, and diagnostic equipment.
- Deliver technical work packages safely, accurately, and in line with quality, cost, and schedule requirements.
- Complete risk assessments and apply safety, quality, and environmental standards across all activities.
- Develop and maintain calibration procedures, checklists, and technical documentation for new and existing equipment.
- Perform electrical testing and inspection activities to maintain equipment compliance, reliability, and operational readiness.
This is a full-time role, 36 hours per week, based on site at HMNB Clyde Faslane.
Essential Experience
- Proven experience in fault-finding, testing, and maintaining electrical or electronic systems within an engineering environment.
- Experience working to strict safety, quality, and environmental standards.
- Ability to deliver technical tasks and work packages to agreed timescales and performance targets.
- Experience producing, interpreting, or following technical documentation, procedures, and inspection records.
- Ideally, experience in the calibration, diagnosis, and repair of Test, Measurement, and Diagnostic Equipment. Training can be provided for candidates with an electrical engineering background.
Qualifications
- Recognised Electrical or Electronics Apprenticeship.
Security Clearance
The successful candidate must be able to achieve and maintain Security Check (SC) security clearance for this role. Eligibility for roles may be affected by place of birth, nationality, current or former citizenship, and residency status.
