About the Programme
Join Babcock's Electrical Engineering Graduate Programme and contribute to some of the UK's most significant engineering projects. You will support the entire engineering lifecycle, from innovation and design to production, commissioning, in-service support, and decommissioning. Potential projects include designing submarines, converting military vehicles, refurbishing ships, advancing nuclear power plants for net-zero goals, and improving rail networks.
Programme Structure
This two-year programme features rotations in placements every three to six months, allowing you to explore diverse projects and teams. These rotations offer opportunities to broaden your experience, build your professional network, and understand business operations, potentially including different locations. You will build a strong foundation in electrical, control, and instrumentation engineering, gradually taking on more responsibility, such as leading small teams and overseeing projects. Placements can be aligned with your interests and career goals.
Development and Support
From day one, you will receive structured support, personalised training, and dedicated mentorship. The Graduate Development Programme includes expert-led masterclasses on essential professional skills. Babcock offers full guidance and covers all associated fees to support your journey toward Chartered or Incorporated Engineer status.

Upon successful completion of the programme, you will transition into a permanent role within Babcock's Engineering Function. You can continue to build on your progress toward professional registration, a key benchmark for engineering competence, which supports advancement into roles like Senior Engineer. What You Need to Apply
- You must have achieved, or be on track to achieve, a BEng, MEng, BSc, or MSc in Electrical Engineering, Control & Instrumentation, Robotics, Mechatronics, Control Systems, Avionics, or Electronic engineering.
- For this programme, you must be able to achieve and maintain Baseline Personnel Security Standard (BPSS) and Security Check (SC) security clearance.
- Under applicable national security legislation, this post may only be occupied by a sole UK national.
Location
Programme placements for September 2027 are available in our Cavendish Nuclear business in Warrington, Bristol, and Leicester. These roles involve work on important UK and international engineering projects, including nuclear site decommissioning, new nuclear power plant construction and operation, and sustaining national defence through work on the UK’s nuclear deterrent. Agile working is offered with flexibility, though several days each week will be on-site. Placements at different UK sites are possible, and flexibility and openness to relocation throughout the programme are encouraged.
