About the Programme
Join Babcock's Electrical Engineering Graduate Programme and play a crucial role in delivering some of the UK's most impactful engineering projects. At Babcock, you will support various stages of the engineering lifecycle, from innovation and design to production, commissioning, in-service support, and decommissioning. You could be involved in designing cutting-edge submarines, converting military vehicles, refurbishing ships, advancing next-generation nuclear power plants, or building safer, more efficient rail networks. You will apply your engineering knowledge to meaningful projects, collaborating with experienced professionals to deliver innovative, high-quality solutions.
Programme Structure
This two-year programme features rotations through different placements every three to six months, offering exposure to a variety of projects and teams. These rotations are designed to broaden your experience, build your professional network, and deepen your understanding of business operations. You will build a strong foundation in electrical, control, and instrumentation engineering, gradually taking on more responsibility, including leading small teams and overseeing projects. Placements can be aligned with your interests and career goals.
Development and Support
From day one, you will receive structured support, personalized training, and dedicated mentorship. The Graduate Development Programme includes expert-led masterclasses on essential professional skills. Babcock provides full guidance and covers associated fees to support your journey toward Chartered or Incorporated Engineer status.

Upon completion of the programme, you will transition into a permanent role within the Engineering Function, where you can continue to apply and expand your skills. You will also have opportunities to build on your progress towards professional registration, a recognized benchmark of engineering competence, supporting your advancement into roles such as Senior Engineer. What We're Looking For
Applicants should have achieved, or be on track to achieve, a BEng, MEng, BSc, or MSc in Electrical Engineering, Control & Instrumentation, Robotics, Mechatronics, Control Systems, Avionics, or Electronic engineering. Eligibility for this programme is subject to Security Clearance and Trade Control restrictions. You must be able to achieve and maintain Baseline Personnel Security Standard (BPSS) and Security Check (SC) security clearance.
Location
This programme is based in our Land sector, which delivers critical services to civil and military organizations. Opportunities are available in Bristol, Walsall, and Plymouth. Work may involve designing wiring harnesses, integrating electrical systems, testing components, diagnosing faults, and supporting system upgrades. While you will join a specific location, placements at different sites across the UK are possible, and flexibility and openness to relocation throughout the programme are encouraged.
