About the Programme
Join our Electrical Engineering Graduate Programme and play a pivotal role in delivering some of the UK’s most impactful engineering projects. At Babcock, you will support various stages of the engineering lifecycle, from initial concept design and technology innovation through to production, commissioning, in-service support, and decommissioning.
You could be involved in designing cutting-edge submarines, converting military vehicles, refurbishing ships, or advancing next-generation nuclear power plants that contribute to the UK’s net-zero goals. You may also contribute to building safer and more efficient rail networks. Throughout your work, you will apply your engineering knowledge to meaningful projects, collaborating with experienced professionals to deliver innovative, high-quality solutions.
Programme Structure
Over two years, you will undertake rotations through different placements, typically lasting three to six months each. This structure allows you to explore a variety of projects and teams, broadening your experience and deepening your understanding of the business. Some rotations may involve different locations, helping you build your professional network.
You will build a strong foundation in electrical, control, and instrumentation engineering, gradually taking on increased responsibilities, such as leading small teams and overseeing projects. As you progress, you can align your placements with your interests and career goals to gain relevant experience in areas that matter most to you.
Development and Support
From day one, you will receive structured support, personalised training, and dedicated mentorship. You will join our Graduate Development Programme, which includes expert-led masterclasses on essential professional skills. Babcock offers full guidance and covers associated fees to support your journey toward Chartered or Incorporated Engineer status.
Career Progression
Upon successful completion of the programme, you will transition into a permanent role within our Engineering Function, where you can continue to develop and apply your skills. You will have opportunities to build on your progress toward professional registration, a recognised benchmark of engineering competence, which supports advancement into more senior roles.

Application Requirements
To apply, you must have achieved, or be on track to achieve, a BEng, MEng, BSc, or MSc in one of the following subjects: Electrical Engineering, Control & Instrumentation, Robotics, Mechatronics, Control Systems, Avionics, or Electronic.
Please note that many of our programmes are subject to Security Clearance and Trade Control restrictions. For this programme, you must be able to achieve and maintain Baseline Personnel Security Standard (BPSS) and Security Check (SC) security clearance. Your place of birth, nationality, citizenship, or residency may impact eligibility.
Location
Places on the Electrical Engineering programme for September 2027 are available in Rosyth, Scotland. Our Rosyth facility is a significant site for our Marine business, housing one of the UK’s largest waterside manufacturing and repair sites. As a graduate, you could be involved in supporting the full lifecycle of naval vessels or delivering complex, large-scale marine build projects.
While agile working offers some flexibility, you can expect to spend several days a week on-site. By your start date, you must be able to reliably commute to the Rosyth site, which may require living within a reasonable commuting distance or relocating. While you’ll join a specific business area and location, placements at different sites across the UK are possible, and we encourage flexibility and openness to relocation.
