About the Programme
Join Babcock's Electrical Engineering Graduate Programme and play a crucial role in delivering impactful engineering projects across the UK. You will support various stages of the engineering lifecycle, including technology innovation, design, production, commissioning, in-service support, and decommissioning. Potential projects include designing submarines, converting military vehicles, refurbishing ships, advancing nuclear power plants for net-zero goals, and improving rail networks.
Programme Structure
This two-year programme features rotational placements every three to six months, allowing you to explore diverse projects and teams. These rotations will broaden your experience, potentially involving relocation, and help you build your professional network and understanding of the business. You will develop a strong foundation in electrical, control, and instrumentation engineering, progressively taking on responsibilities such as leading small teams and overseeing projects. Placements can be aligned with your interests and career goals.
Development and Support
From day one, you'll receive structured support, personalised training, and dedicated mentorship. The Graduate Development Programme includes expert-led masterclasses on essential professional skills. Babcock fully supports your journey towards Chartered or Incorporated Engineer status, covering guidance and associated fees.

You can continue to develop your skills, work towards professional registration, and advance into roles such as Senior Engineer. What You Need to Apply
You should have achieved, or be on track to achieve, a BEng, MEng, BSc, or MSc in Electrical Engineering, Control & Instrumentation, Robotics, Mechatronics, Control Systems, Avionics, or Electronic Engineering. This programme requires you to achieve and maintain Baseline Personnel Security Standard (BPSS) and Security Check (SC) security clearance. Due to national security legislation, this post may only be occupied by a sole UK national.
Location
This programme offers positions in the Marine/Nuclear sector in Plymouth, based at Devonport. Devonport is a significant naval base where you will support the Royal Navy's surface ships and submarines, potentially working on life-extension programmes, nuclear submarine overhauls, or system integration. While based in Plymouth, placements at other UK sites are possible, and flexibility for relocation is encouraged.
