About the Programme
Join Babcock's Electrical Engineering Graduate Programme and contribute to some of the UK’s most significant engineering projects. You will be involved in the entire engineering lifecycle, from initial concept and design through to production, commissioning, and decommissioning.
Potential projects include designing advanced submarines, modifying military vehicles, refurbishing vessels, or contributing to next-generation nuclear power plants and rail networks.
Programme Structure
This is a two-year programme featuring rotations every three to six months. These placements will expose you to diverse projects and teams, helping you expand your network and understand business operations. You'll build a strong foundation in electrical, control, and instrumentation engineering, gradually taking on more responsibility, including leading small teams and overseeing projects.
Rotations can be tailored to your interests and career aspirations, allowing you to gain relevant experience in your preferred areas.
Development and Support
From the outset, you'll receive structured support, personalised training, and dedicated mentorship. The Graduate Development Programme includes expert-led masterclasses covering essential professional skills.
Babcock provides full guidance and covers all associated fees for your journey towards Chartered or Incorporated Engineer status.
Career Progression
Upon successful completion of the programme, you will transition into a permanent role within the Engineering Function. You will have opportunities to continue your professional registration progress, paving the way for advanced roles such as Senior Engineer. What You Need to Apply
You must have, or be on track to achieve, a BEng, MEng, BSc, or MSc in Electrical Engineering, Control & Instrumentation, Robotics, Mechatronics, Control Systems, Avionics, or Electronic Engineering.
This role requires you to obtain and maintain Baseline Personnel Security Standard (BPSS) and Security Check (SC) security clearance. Due to national security legislation, this post may only be occupied by a sole UK national.
Location
This programme is based in Bristol (Ashton House and Babcock Technology Centre) within the Marine sector, focusing on communications systems, electronic warfare capabilities, and other technologies for naval and maritime platforms.
Agile working is supported, with an expectation of working on-site multiple times per week. While your primary placement will be in Bristol, flexibility for placements at other UK sites is encouraged, considering personal circumstances.
