Job Title: EC&I System V&V Engineer
Working Pattern: Full Time - Days
Working Location: Derby (5 Days onsite)
An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Systems Engineer to join our growing EC&I Verification & Validation (V&V) team. The EC&I V&V team is responsible for delivering verification of the next-generation Rolls‑Royce nuclear reactor control system. This includes the verification of individual control units, subsystem and system-level integration, and alignment with the wider submarine platform.
You will play an integral role in ensuring the high-integrity reactor control system performs to specification and delivers sustainable performance in support of the Royal Navy for decades to come.
What you will be doing:
- Generating V&V processes and tools for testing and analysis of test evidence.
- Taking ownership of the verification of one or more EC&I products.
- Reviewing requirements and allocating appropriate verification methods.
- Developing algorithm emulators, test procedures and test scripts.
- Designing, specifying, deploying, operating and maintaining bespoke test rigs and sensor simulators.
- Conducting testing of EC&I equipment and compiling verification evidence and reports.
- Working closely with commissioning teams to support the deployment of equipment onto boats.
Who we’re looking for:
- Degree qualified in Electronic, Electrical, Instrumentation, Control, Software Engineering, Physics or a related discipline. Relevant experience may be considered in lieu of a degree.
- Extensive Verification & Validation experience, including Hardware-in-the-Loop (HIL) testing.
- Strong technical understanding of high-integrity electrical and electronic systems.
- Good knowledge of the product design lifecycle, including requirements definition, design, verification and validation, safety and final acceptance.
- Advanced Microsoft Excel skills, with experience analysing and interpreting test data.
- Experience with Python, VBA or MATLAB/Simulink would be advantageous.
